For 32 years, Bishop Larry D. Trotter has served as senior Pastor of Chicago’s famed; Sweet Holy Spirit Church.  The ministry under his leadership has grown from 22 members in 1981 to well over 10, 000 presently. Bishop Trotter has always been a “survivor” starting with the humble beginnings of being raised by a single mother (Dorothy Ernestine Trotter) in the housing projects on into preaching the Gospel to literally the uttermost parts of the earth (18 different nations).

 

He was licensed and ordained by both Baptist and Pentecostal denominations and gained an audience who could appreciate his unique blend. He served as one of the founding fathers of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, four years as presiding Prelate of United Covenant Churches of Christ and presently as overseer and spiritual advisor for several reformations, fellowships and apostolic networks. Bishop Trotter covers over 100 sons and daughters in full time ministry.

 

Bishop Trotter has countless degrees from his pursuit of higher learning and has walked and lived among the greatest.  He was instrumental in the election of the first African American Mayor of Chicago, Mayor Harold Washington and the First African American President of the United States, President Barak Obama. Bishop Trotter has authored and published 6 books and recorded 7 award winning gospel projects on both Tyscott Records and his own label ‘Utopia Music Group.  Bishop Trotter has five children and one grandchild.  We know that God will continue to add Grace to his life as he continues to declare “If I loose everything but still have Jesus, I’ve got enough to start over again because I still believe that what’s to come is better than what’s been”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Moving into the new year Sweet Holy Spirit Church welcomes our newest blessings and additions to our first family. On December 24, 2013 our pastor Bishop Larry D. Trotter married Lady Mildred Andrea Trotter at 6:45pm. Our church family welcomes her and children with open hearts, minds, and spirits. Bringing our first family to a total of ten members; Bishop Larry D Trotter, Lady Mildred Andrea Trotter, & children, Laurice Deymein, Javon Deneen, Larry Darnell, Lakheem David, Brandi Lecretia, Tomiya Lene,

Martryce DaMeon, & Malachi Jermaine.
